The Gaia + No. 1 7″

There’s not much that I know about The Gaia, and apart from their track on the Six Weeks Omnibus 8″ „No. 1″ is the only stuff of theirs that I know. This 6 track 7″ mostly has simple, powerful thrashers, some blast beats and a very angry singer. The only exception is the song „Boys“, which is supposedly a cover by the Beatles (sorry, but I can‘t confirm that. I don‘t know the song and I‘m not gonna start researching songs by the Beatles, no way!).

Boys, all I really want is boys, and in the morning it’s boys, ’cause in the evening it’s boys…

„Boys“ was a cover in the Beatles repertoire. I just saw in discogs that in this GAIA EP entry they credit the song to the Beatles, but the original was by The SHIRELLES.
Don‘t be afraid of the Beatles! :D There’s lots of fantastic punk covers of them (starting with ‚Help!‘ by the Damned and Siouxsie’s ‚Helter skelter‘ and The Boys‘ „I call your name“). The Negazione guitarist was a Beatles fan! White Flag covered a couple of tunes, „There’s a place“, „I‘m down“. And so on. Oh, and Michiro Endo covered ‚Help‘ in his Sex Oddisey.

Oh, well, and this band GAIA. I‘m not very much into 90’s punk but I‘m curious about this one, I‘ll give it a try, thanks!

    Hey Fernando,
thanks for clarifying who really wrote the song! Though I really like Siouxsie’s Helter Skelter, I am extremely and irrationally dogmatic in my disdain of the Beatles. Even an endorsement by Michiro Endo himself could not change my mind! ;)
