Das Gemeine – S/T 7“

This flexi 7“ from 1985 (?) seems to be the only release of this cool ass gothic rock band with a great singer. Halloween on side A is a pretty catchy, almost uptempo number, while Carnival on side B is a slow, 7 ½ minute lamentation; just the kind that would be the most appropriate counterpoint background music for barbarian, uncivilised rituals such as german carnival…

Funny enough, I can‘t really decide which side up the front cover should be displayed. From the way the cover is folded, my scan would be upside down…

But it looks better this way!

Wow, there‘ not much info on this band around. In fact your post is the first time I hear from this band with exotic name in a language that must sound very cool in Japan. (The Jap goths had a penchant for German, check G-Schmitt and other bands I don‘t remember right now).
About the date, discogs doesn‘t say anything; rym says 1985 but who knows; a youtuber who writes (and maybe is) Japanese and who has this single and four live tracks says the recordings are from circa 1990-1991. ??? I wonder. Anyway, the bits I already heard sound really good and there’s a girl singing her pains (maybe she knows about German carnival? ha) so that makes it for me. Thanks a lot!

German carnival is pain, believe me. If you‘re really deep into irony (or masochism) you might like it, though. I‘d suggest the following super-dark names for gothic rock bands: Schunkeln, Büttenrede (it’s got an umlaut, yeah!) or Frohsinn.
To my ears, they are beyond scary… ;)
