Last Bomb – Retro Firing 7″

After Ghoul’s original bassist Bear Bomb quit the band, he went on to sing in Last Bomb. The Retro Firing 7“ from 1986 is their second release. I can‘t help it, but in my mind I always compare this record to finnish Pohjasakka’s „Maailma Täynnä Vihaa“: the guitar sound is just as underproduced, and the playing as frantic, though Last Bomb sound a bit more focused and put more work into their songwriting.

I thought retro was poison?

you mention this Ghoul guy, but for me the interest in Last Bomb came from the guitarist, Cloudy, that is, the Johnny Thunders looking guy who banged bass chords for this famous band, GISM. About the Ghoul Guy, according to discogs he didn‘t sing in Last Bomb, not in their first records at least. He played bass. More jap-punk-scene-endogamy: in their first EP, the drummer was Misa, the drummer of RAP and later (circa 1988) in the last line-up of KYAH. Interesting :)

BTW, do you happen to have the non-retro ‚Firing‘ EP?

P.S. Excuse my English. I meant bass strings, not chords – string in Spanish is ‚cuerda‘, voilà le faux ami :(

    Hey Fernando,
right now this is the only release of Last Bomb that I‘ve got.
And my mistake again: you‘re right, Bear Bomb was on bass only in Last Bomb. He was on bass and vocals in Final Bombs, not Last Bomb. All of this band incest is hard to keep track of, haha!
