Inu – メシ食うな!LP

Inu from Osaka, a highly important and influential late 1970s punk band. Aside from appearing on 1980’s Dokkiri Record, “Meshi Kuuna!“ from 1981 was their only release during their original run. This LP is wild and very diverse, with the music ranging from bouncy, melodic and dancable punk rock to slow, atonal dirges. Anyway, a truly awesome album. I find the inventive guitar playing with its cool melodies especially interesting. A couple of years later, they also released a posthumous album with live recordings from 1979.

Get it!

Hi! Great album indeed, and, as you say, very diverse.

The guitarist yeah, but what about the bassist? Her playing in some of the songs is amazing, the bass/guitar „dialogues“ is impressive in places.

It’s sad to know that many INU songs were lost apparently forever, like „Hamburger“, „Love over voltage“ and others. Live versions remain though. I wonder also why they excluded from the album their old hit „All the old punks“ from Dokkiri Record even though they re-recorded the rest of the songs of the 1980 comp. for their only album.

On a side note, my keyboard sucks!! :D My apologies if the spelling in my (other) comments is even worse than Narumi’s! :D

    Saludos ;)

    Hello my fridne,
yeah, you‘re right, there’s a lot more to be found on this album than „just“ the great guitarist. I still have to get my hands on their live album; it’s been on my to buy list for a while, so I hope it’s only a matter of time…
Btw. was The Star Clubs „Hello new punks“ some kind of hommage to Inu’s song?
