Judgment Disorderly – Low-Power.ep

Judgment Disorderly from Kōchi (like the mighty Disclose) released this not-so-low-power 7“ in ’97 on Dan-Doh Records. They played pretty simple, straight-forward hardcore with a raw punk guitar sound. In some places it sounds like their guitarist had a lot of fun toying with his effect pedals.

Low-power, great name!

ネメシス – 慟哭 7“

Nemesis‘ first of sadly only two 7“es, released in 2011. I have no idea if they‘re still active, but with their last release being from 2013… The music on Doukoku is tight, high-speed thrash with a wild, shrieking vocalist thrown in. All in all not quite dissimilar to the faster, thrashier songs of Warhead, only with just a little bit more sanity…

Doukoku, that’s something like wailing lamentation.

The Stalin – Go Go スターリン 12“

Released in 1983 like their classic album , their Go Go Stalin 12″ is pretty similar in style and sound. Two fast hardcore numbers (the track Go Go Stalin was also included on 虫) plus a vicious mid-tempo number with the most depressing song title of all time: congenital worker.

Go! Go!

Disclose ‎– The Demo’s Album

As the name may suggest, this tape compiles Disclose’s early demos from 1992 and 1993, plus a number of compilation tracks, with the first demo providing the unique opportunity to listen to Disclose without Kawakami on vocals. My version is only a boot of the real thing btw.

I hope somebody lost their job for that apostrophe!

v.a. Raw Punkz 7“

Now this is really cool little comp! All five bands (Raw Distractions, Persevere, Solpäätos, Vendetta! and Skizophrenia!) play wild, driving, simple and kind of catchy punk rock. Though none of them play raw punk in the sense of Confuse et. al., if you take the title to mean pure, unrefined punk, then you are spot on!

Yeah!

Crow – Hametsu No Haoto 12“

Now this is a truly heavy release by the masters of hardcore darkness! From the doves carrying Little Boys to the Genbaku Dome to the actual music, this 12“ is dark and evil as fuck. The title track Beating Of The Wings Of Destruction is an almost 7 minute monster of slow, dark, metallic hardcore, the 4 songs on side b also merge into one 7 minute track of high speed chaos (one is a re-recording of Last Chaos). Originally released in 2007 with a cover, this picture 12“ is the 2010 licensed pressing on Prank.

This is a masterpiece, you hear me?

RAP – Wrap 7“

RAP may not be as well known as some of their label mates on the legendary Dogma Records (home to The Comes, GISM, R.U.G., Gastunk and The Clay among others), but their debut 7“ from 1985 is definitely a classic piece of japanese punk. It’s got two faster paced numbers between snotty and melodic, plus one slower song that’s pretty gothic in style. As you can read on the cover, this record was produced by Lizard’s Momoyo. Btw.: drummer Misa later displayed a dubious taste in t-shirts during her time in Final Bombs, haha.

There’s no literal rap on this 7“ btw.
